Robotics director responded, "Was it on the original email I responded to? I don't have it
anymore but if
she
emails me again I'll cc you my response."
I responded,
"LOL, if you're willing to do that, we'd be thrilled.
She'd deleted your 'to' line on the copy she sent to (dh)."
Robotics director also responded, "Thank you so much for the clarification. We really want the
robotics
participation to be an enrichment for the students and not
something that
causes problems within the families. Your support is much
appreciated and I
hope (ss) enjoys the challenge.
I responded, "(ss) asked me yesterday with concern, 'What happens if mom goes
to court over this?' I asked him if he'd seen his copy of the
letter to his mom on his desk. He said no. I reassured him our attorney
said the court would rule that he gets to go to robotics.
I think his mom was trying to scare him that she'd take his dad to
court.
He was reassured that his dad won't get in to trouble.
I told him that if we pay to go to court again (you can imagine the
thousands of dollars we've spent on that), we want it to count.
When his
absences deprive him of participating in competitions, we may choose to
bite the bullet, spend the money, and go to court.
Meanwhile, (ss's) enjoying robotics, and friends with a common
interest. It's his freshman year, and we may wait for court til his
sophomore year to ensure that SOME year, he'll be able to participate
fully.
You take care of your side of the fence, we'll take care of our side, (bm)
will do her thing, and whatever happens, we'll handle it.
Thank you."
I reread director's response to bm, and wrote director, "In your reply
to her you wrote, 'I
will keep your email address and make sure you know about the
competition dates.'
I
snail mail her all robotics emails. Since you don't have her email
address right now, I'll continue snail mailing her, and if you get the
opportunity, put her on the distribution list?"
Director emailed, "I just checked and yours is the only parent address on the student
distribution list, so I do appreciate your snail mailing whatever has to be sent.
I had originally sent her the regional and national dates and I guess I
figured that was the end of it.

2/3/2001 5pm Bm calls our line, "(Ss's) not answering the phone.
Is he home?" I replied, "Robotics was supposed to go til 8pm,
but he called and got out early again. He's out with his dad." She
said sternly, "I have a question! When is the competition?" I
replied, "(director) said she emailed them to you." Bm
hesitated confused, "She only emailed me that one time." I
said, "Yes, that's when she emailed them to you." She said,
"Tell (ss) I called and that I will be calling back!"
I realized she'd gotten the snail mail of the email announcing ss
being chosen for competition, and she was angry thinking it would
encroach on her time with ss.
2/4/2001 11am Bm calls kids' line. My daughter answers, "He's at
robotics and gets out at 8pm." Bm says, "8PM?!?" My
daughter answers, "Yes." Bm hangs up.
I email director, "Heads up, (bm) called, didn't remember you
emailing the dates. I snail mailed her the dates."
I snail mail bm the old email between director and I about her
emailing bm the dates, and include today's email.
